Graduate Certificate in Forensic Psychology

The Graduate Certificate in Forensic Psychology is an advanced 12-credit-hour certificate designed for students curious about forensic psychology as well as for seasoned licensed psychologists interested in shifting their practice toward forensic work. Students will explore in-depth assessment topics such as insanity, competency, death penalty, juvenile law, education law, tort law, civil commitment, family law, immigration law, disability law, and more. Students also examine various aspects of trial sciences, including expert testimony, motions, objections, witness preparation, jury selection, and media relations. The certificate includes an embedded mediation sequence that may meet the basic mediator’s training requirements of some states. Materials for the certificate largely follow the syllabus suggested by the American Academy of Forensic Psychology and the Specialty Guidelines for Forensic Psychology
