Required Courses (15 Credits)
The Graduate Certificate in Educational Psychology is an advanced 15-credit-hour certificate designed for students, teachers, administrators, and other school personnel interested in better understanding the overlap between psychology and education. Topics examine roles such as school counselors, psychologists, diagnosticians, interventionists, behavioral analysts, etc. Relevant special education and disability laws are reviewed and students become familiar with mental health diagnostic criteria vs educational classifications. Students explore theories of learning, socioemotional factors related to school and family engagement, strategies for increasing communication and collaboration, as well as mobilization of community resources. Common cognitive and academic assessments used in school settings are also explored.
