The Ferrum College Teacher Education Program prepares caring and competent pre-professionals as decision-makers for the diverse contexts of 21st-century classrooms, schools and communities. Building upon a solid liberal arts foundation, the program assists candidates to develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions necessary to become effective and caring teachers in an ever-changing society.
This major requires a minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA and a minimum 3.0 GPA in education courses.

Special Education - Add on Endorsement
Students enrolled in the Elementary Education program have the option to additionally complete the special education endorsement. The add-on endorsement will allow students to earn special education licensure in conjunction with a degree in Elementary Education. This endorsement cannot be added to any other license. All Teacher Education Program requirements such as GPA apply to this licensure.
