PSY 550 - Cognitive and Academic AssessmentCredit Hour(s): 3 This course will provide exploratory in-depth synchronous and asynchronous training for a variety of cognitive assessment tools. The course introduces the concept of cognitive assessment with commonly used brief assessment screeners (MMSE and MoCA). the course provides an overview of the historical and modern theories of intelligence, followed by intelligence test development, and the actual practice of administering, scoring, and interpreting widely used tests for assessing child and adult intelligence. In addition, the course explores academic achievement testing and the relationship to learning differences, advantages, disabilities, and educational classifications. Tests receiving special attention are current versions of Wechsler products (WAIS, WISC, WASI, WIAT) and the WRAT. Special consideration is given to socioemotional or other diversity differences. 3 Credit(s).
