PSY 572 - Forensic Psychology: Mediation

This course is designed for graduate psychology students, attorneys, social workers, educators,
administrators, and HP professionals interested in learning the basic foundation of mediation. It
provides an overview of the major theories of conflict resolution (negotiation, mediation, and
arbitration), and then turns its focus to mediation (skills and theory) through a
psychological lens (conflict theory, emotion, biases, empathy, positioning, etc.). While the
course is primarily a foundational practice-based mediation course designed to meet basic training
requirements (including ethics and statutory review requirements). The course is highly
skills-based and simulations/role-plays are the primary method of both learning and assessment. 3 Credit(s).
