EDU 518 - Teacher Practitioners as Informed Curriculum Decision Makers

Credit Hour(s): 3
This course provides learners the opportunity to explore the teacher’s decision-making process around curriculum and instruction in how it impacts what goes on in and outside of their classroom, thereby examining their role as an educational leader. To frame their understanding, learners will draw upon this guiding question: How do teacher decisions inside the classroom regarding curriculum and instruction connect to what goes on outside of the classroom and within the school? Additionally, learners will
navigate the challenges of curricular design from the institutional (i.e., school) role of the teacher and how a teacher can become a meaningful and effective contributor in the development of curriculum and instruction collaboratively at the department and school level. To showcase their learning, learners will have the opportunity to create a Curriculum and Instruction 100-Day Plan that outlines the steps and processes to drive positive change, independently and collaboratively, within their school environment. 3 Credit(s). 3 Contact Hour(s).

Course Session Cycle: Fall 1, Summer 1
