EDU 516 - Differentiating Curriculum and Instruction for Diverse Learning Communities

This course explores the application and significance of differentiation for diverse learning communities in the PK-12 classroom environment. Learners will explore various pedagogical methods, strategies, and ways of learning that allow their students
choice in how they learn. Learners will examine teaching and learning principles and strategies for addressing the learning needs of diverse student populations (e.g., culturally and linguistically diverse students, gifted learners, English learners, students with disabilities) at all levels of schooling, and in particular how it connects to their professional context, and how that influences the development of curriculum and instruction, ongoing assessment, learning
environments, and overall student readiness for academic success. Through various assignments, learners will apply their knowledge and understanding by redesigning elements of their classroom practice and creating a differentiation
playbook to support their students’ learning and growth. 3 Credit(s). 3 Contact Hour(s).
