PSY 530 - Techniques of Counseling

This course provides an introduction to helping skills in the practice of psychology. An overview of key psychological theories underpinning the practice of counseling is provided and students are provided opportunities to develop basic communication, rapport building and helping skills. Special consideration is given to ethics, cultural issues, and self-awareness as it applies to counseling.  3 Credit(s).
